We all had a wonderful morning at the Book Parade. There were so many wonderful costumes throughout the school. Each class had a chance to walk around the middle playground to parade their Book Week Costume. It was fantastic to listen to the students talk about their favourite books and characters from these books.
After the parade, Mrs O’Brien handed out the Certificates and prizes to the students who won the Book Week Colouring-in competition. There was a winner chosen from each class. The winning entries and all other entries are on display in the library. Mrs O’Brien also drew the raffle for the students who participated in the Premier’s Reading Challenge. There were 2 winners from each stage who got to take home a collection of books to read.
Then it was time for the school band to perform to our community. It was great to listen to some of the songs that the band have been working on. They sounded fantastic! Thank you to Mrs Ardill and the music tutors for coordinating this.
The morning concluded with a picnic morning tea. Thanks to the parents, grandparents and other family members who came along to join in the fun and support our school. It was a great time had by all!!!
Book Week Performance
On Wednesday morning, a performance group came to our school to perform a musical play based on the Book Week books. The students really enjoyed the performance! Some students were even chosen to participate on stage at different times during the performance. The Shortlisted books that the musical was based on include; Out, Home in the Rain and Mechanica.
The Book fair has been a great success this year. We have had so many families visiting the book fair to purchase some of the many books, posters and stationery items that have been available. Thank you to the families who have donated books to our school library. It is greatly appreciated! The school receives a commission on the number of books that are sold at the book fair so every purchase counts. Thank you to everyone who has purchased something at the Book Fair this week.
