NEWS FROM OUR RELIGIOUS COORDINATOR
Dear Parents, guardians and friends,
Ash Wednesday marks the the first day of Lent, which is the season of preparation for the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday. Ash Wednesday always falls 46 days before Easter and is a great opportunity for us to renew our relationship with God. On Wednesday your children took the opportunity to attend our Ash Wednesday Liturgy to receive ashes on their forehead. During this liturgy, Father Andrew explained that these ashes hold great significance to our Catholic faith and described them as ‘ugly’ and ‘unattractive’, much like the sins we make in life. However, it is the powerful words shared both during the distribution of ashes; “Be more like Jesus” and the imperative message taken from Father Andrew’s homily – “Pray, fast and share”that invites each of us to turn away from sin and live life as true Disciples of Christ. Our challenge this Lent isn’t to see how long we fast without chocolate, technology or other cherished things – Our challenge is much greater than this. It is to see how we are able to change our minds and hearts to live a life that is fruitful and magnifies Christ in each of us - free of sin and judgement. Have a wonderful week everyone. Let us help each other keep our Lenten promise.
