Uniform

At St Bernadette's we believe that wearing the St Bernadette’s school uniform is an important part of instilling pride in the children and maintaining our school identity and spirit. By adhering to a consistent uniform and grooming policy, equality and self-respect will be developed within the school community.

It is expected that the children wear the correct school uniform on all occasions.

Aims

  • To ensure that our school uniform is attractive, practical and accessible to all families.

Expectations

  • Children are to wear the correct school uniform neatly and with pride
  • Children are to follow the school's policy for grooming especially in relation to hair and jewellery
  • Parents are asked to ensure that their children wear the correct school uniform and follow the school's grooming policy at all times
  • Classroom teachers are responsible for maintaining and checking that the children are wearing the uniform correctly and adhering to the school's grooming requirements
  • All uniform items should be in good condition
  • All items of clothing are to be clearly marked with the child's full name.

All uniforms are available from the Parent Group Uniform Shop on Wednesday mornings from 8.30am - 10.30am. 

 

The following student dress code applies at all times:

  • Predominantly white sport shoes/joggers are only to be worn on sport days.
  • Haircuts and hairstyles should be sensible, neat and tidy—no hair colours, highlights, streaks or unusual styles are allowed. This includes rats tails, stripes and the excessive use of gel, etc.
  • Long hair needs to be tied back. No undercuts, no pony tails or buns for boys. Boys haircuts are to be no shorter than a level 2 and hair must be off the face.
  • Junior navy blue ribbons, scrunchies and hair clips may be worn.
  • No ornate or sharp hair clips to be worn.
  • No anklets, plaited cords or beads to be worn.
  • No nail polish is to be worn.

Girls – appropriate jewellery consists of:

  • signet ring
  • sleeper or stud earrings (one on each ear only)
  • simple religious chain, if desired.

Boys – appropriate jewellery consists of:

  • signet ring
  • simple religious chain, if desired.

Boys are not allowed to wear an earring and watches are NOT to be worn.
